As a partner in the South London Listens initiative, the South East London VCSE Strategic Alliance is proud to highlight the release of the latest South London Listens' Impact Report for 2021-23 and the Action Plan for 2024-25. These documents reflect not only our collective achievements but also our shared vision for advancing mental health and tackling health inequalities in south London.

The Impact Report provides a comprehensive look at the significant progress made through this collaborative effort. South London Listens, a partnership between the south east and south west London Integrated Care Boards, three South London mental health trusts, local authorities, and over 150 community organisations, has been pivotal in addressing the urgent mental health challenges exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The shift from “South London Listens” to “South London Acts” signifies a transformative phase. With the continued support of partners such as the SEL VCSE Strategic Alliance, South London Acts will focus on building a sustainable movement to address entrenched health inequalities. They are actively working with over 60 community organisations to implement actions that enhance mental health and remove barriers to good health.

The initiatives is already making a notable impact. For instance, the new CAMHS Virtual Waiting Room, developed from community consultations, now serves over 7,500 families. South London Listens' evaluation reports demonstrate that they are not only improving access to services and supporting mental health and well-being but also strengthening the capacity of the voluntary sector to support their communities effectively.

Looking ahead, their Action Plan for 2024-25 outlines refined goals and new priorities, including a robust commitment to address housing and health issues. South London Acts will be guided by their Taskforce and through quarterly Borough-focused meetings with local stakeholders. This approach will ensure that they strengthen local relationships, align with existing initiatives, and expand the reach of their programme.
