About the Opportunity

Are you an experienced VCSE leader with strong connections across south east London and a passion for ensuring that communities shape how healthcare is designed and delivered?

We’re seeking a proactive, partnership-driven VCSE Strategic Lead to help strengthen how King’s works with the VCSE sector and local communities.

The Trust has listened to its patients, carers, communities and the public, and this insight has helped shape its published Trust Strategy 2026–2031. The next step is delivery.

Working across King’s, the wider health and care system and the VCSE sector, you will help translate this learning into practical programmes of work and action. A key part of the role will be supporting the Trust to develop how it partners with the VCSE sector, so that VCSE organisations and communities are meaningfully involved in shaping, designing and delivering work that responds to local priorities.

You will bring VCSE insight, expertise and connections into the Trust’s priorities, while helping the Trust better understand and harness the contribution that VCSE organisations and communities can make to its work.

You will also support the development of the Trust’s Anchor programme and its role as Neighbourhood Health Integrator host for Bromley, helping to build stronger connections across the local system and create opportunities for the Trust and VCSE sector to work together to improve health and wellbeing.

About You

You are an experienced VCSE leader with a proven track record in cross-sector partnership, strategic influence, community leadership and turning community insight into practical action. You will bring:

• Strong VCSE networks and partnership experience, with established connections across south east London, including with grassroots and ‘By and For’ organisations, and a track record of building trusted relationships with the NHS and wider partners.

• Experience turning insight into action, with the ability to translate community insight and strategic priorities into practical programmes of work and coordinate partners to support delivery across organisational boundaries.

• A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to identify opportunities bring people together around shared priorities. and develop collaborative programmes of work.

• A strong understanding of health inequalities and the role of community-led approaches in addressing them.

• A commitment to ensuring that local voices, expertise and community assets influence how healthcare is designed and delivered.

***You must currently be employed by a south east London VCSE organisation to be considered for this opportunity***

Role Details

Time commitment: 1 day a week plus 14 days a year for training and development. Fixed term for one year.

Funding: £260 per day (£17,160) + £3630 for employing VCSE organisation overhead cost. Total funding available: £20,790.

The full funding amount will be paid to the employing VCSE organisation, and they will be the one paying the successful candidate

Location: You will primarily be based across Denmark Hill and Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH), with expected attendance across all Trust sites, community and place-based meetings, events and partnership activities across Bromley, Lambeth and Southwark.
